Happy September! September is probably my favorite month out of the whole year! Not only is it my birthday month (and everyone knows I go all out to celebrate), but it is that time of year when fall is creeping in and we cherish the last bit of summer for as long as we can. The highlight of my summer was being surrounded by family, friends, and love at my grandparent’s Oregon home.
Today I’m sharing my last outfit I wore in Oregon (see my other Oregon outfits here and here) and let me tell you, I am OBSESSED with this dress! It is absolutely gorgeous and I got so many compliments on it! It was a perfect dress to wear to the most perfect night.
I wore it to my Grandma and Grandpa’s 50th wedding anniversary party, yes I did say 50th!!! My grandparents met when they were in high school (my grandma says she snagged the hottest guy in school), fell in love, and haven’t looked back since. Four children and six grandchildren later, they are an inspiration to everyone who meets them.
Family is everything to me and being able to celebrate this amazing accomplishment in the name of love was breathtaking. 50 years of marriage isn’t something you witness everyday and to be able to say my grandparents are more in love than when they met when they were 16 is humbling. Watching my grandparents dance under the Oregon starlight was something I will cherish everyday of my life. I believe love, whatever that might mean to you, is the most important part of life and without it you aren’t whole. Being surrounded with all different kinds of love (the love of my family, the love of my boyfriend, the love of a place and of a gorgeous night) was inspiring and the feeling in the air was magical. I left Oregon feeling more in love with love than I have ever felt before, and that’s saying something. I can only hope and pray that I am able to experience and surround myself with 50 years of love, generation after generation, just like my grandparents.
Now to the fun part…the party! My grandma’s house has a cute little country feel to it, so a country party was necessary. Burlap, wildflowers, picnic baskets, homemade sangria, and mason jars were just some of the cute pieces that strung this party together. We decorated the tree with lights and hung old pictures of my grandparents with clothes pin and twine! We even lined the dance floors with bales of hay! A little hot dog stand served gourmet hot dogs and my grandpa’s band played original music all night. It was a country party if I’ve ever seen one! Check out my outfit and decorations below!
Thanks so much for reading and I hope my grandparent’s story has inspired your own love story.
