Wonderland in the Desert

September 9, 2015

DSC_0027I spent my Labor Day Weekend in the land of palm trees and nonstop sun…aka Palm Springs. I have always been in love with Palm Springs and the surrounding area. As a child, I spent my summers in a summer condo in Palm Desert. Not a bad way to grow up, I must say. Now in my early 20s, I’m discovering so many new reasons to fall more and more in love with the desert that stole my heart. The Parker Hotel quickly swept past all my favorite spots to number one on my Palm Springs favorites.

I’ve heard and read great things about the swanky hotel that is The Parker. Before visiting this wonderland, I read all the history and it sure is fascinating (you should read too!). This upscale, chic hotel helped put Palm Springs back on the map as a trendy getaway. Palm Springs to Los Angeles is like what The Hamptons are to New York. A two hour trek from Los Angeles makes Palm Springs the ultimate getaway.

The Parker is beautiful, hidden behind high walls and hedges, it feels like your own secret estate. It brought me back to the days I spent as a child running around my Great Grandma’s giant lawn, smelling the flowers and drinking fruit punch. This place feels like home, a giant estate-like home with a retro vibe, but nonetheless a home. There is no sense of direction and each turn you make you stumble upon something new. Stroll down one path and you find a croquet lawn, turn down the next and you find the cutest lemonade stand in history.

Not to mention, brunch at Norma’s is a MUST. This retro, sixties inspired restaurant has unbelievable food and drinks. Definitely coming here every time I come to Palm Springs. And I’m not going to lie, I may have researched until 1am last night about a possible wedding at The Parker. I mean can you say dream come true or what (shhh…don’t tell my boyfriend!)

Shop my outfit below and stay tuned for more Palm Springs posts.

Thanks so much for reading!

XOXO Samantha
