White on White Trend

June 2, 2016

I’ve talked about so many spring & summer trends over the last few weeks including cold shoulder, off the shoulder, and the blue and white combo. Today, I’m talking all about how to master one of my favorite summer trends (maybe ever!) the white on white trend. If you’re a stickler for only wearing white after Memorial Day and before Labor Day, then it’s your time to shine. Although I don’t follow this fashion rule, I looked up its origins because I wanted to know how it came about. In case you’re wondering, here’s a little fashion history tidbit for you. According to fashion reporters, it began in the 1930’s with the ultra-rich wearing only white in the summer. Light clothing gave the look of leisure, while dark clothing was mostly for working people.

I actually kind of like this rule, not that I follow it at all. I wear white year round. But there is something so fun about throwing on a LWD (little white dress) in the summer paired with a golden tan. Or throwing on a pair of denim shorts with a linen striped white button down. White just screams summer, and it’s time to break it out like no other time in the year! And now, it’s all about pairing white with what else?…white of course! The key is not to go overboard. White on white can be hard to master but with my tips below, you’ll be rocking this trend all summer!

So no matter how you want to wear white this summer, I encourage you to try the white on white trend! You can definitely do it. Just remember the key is to break up all that white with some color and a few accessory pieces.
